Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Dr. Richard Smith. Members present: Margaret Harrison, Jane Jacobs and Phyllis Klick. Member absent: Gary Allard. This was Dr. Smith’s last meeting serving on the Board of Health.
The Board signed the bills and necessary correspondence.
The Board read the minutes of August 4, 2010. Ms. Harrison moved to accept the minutes with the change to paragraph #4 John Schneider is a respiratory therapist and not an occupational therapist, seconded by Ms. Jacobs and so voted.
The Board read a memo from Kathleen Taft outlining Health Inspector, Lorri McCool’s, update on mold at the Library in the children’s room and kits for Monson for immunization clinics.
The Board read an email from the Monson Water Department informing the Board that the Water Department recently tested positive for very low levels of total coli form bacteria during their routine sampling. All samples were negative for E-coli.
The Board discussed the upcoming vacancy on the Board of Health with the resignation of Dr. Smith and the application of Mr. John Schneider. The Board determined that Mr. Schneider was qualified to serve on the Board and that he is interested in serving. The Board contacted Mr. Allard, who was absent, for his opinion. After a brief discussion, Ms. Harrison moved to accept Mr. Schneider to fill the vacancy on the Board and requested that the Board of Selectmen be asked to appoint Mr. Schneider to fill the vacancy of Dr. Smith and voted unanimously.
The Board will reorganize at a later date and spoke of changing the hour of the Board’s meeting possibly to 6:00 p.m.
