Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Dr. Richard Smith.  Members present: Gary Allard and Phyllis Klick.  Members absent: Jane Jacobs and Margaret Harrison.

The Board signed the bills and necessary correspondence.

The Board read and reviewed the Minutes of March 3, 2010.  Mr. Allard moved to accept the minutes as presented, seconded by Dr. Smith and so voted.

The Board discussed a request by Annie Weulfing at the Senior Center.   Ms. Weulfing asked the Board to please consider discussion of possible shingles  shots for the seniors.  She had been approached by Tom Amaral at Merck.  Mr. Amaral had called the Board of Health office several weeks ago on this issue, and Ms. Harrison was in contact with him.  Unfortunately, Ms. Harrison could not attend this evenings meeting; therefore, this will be discussed at the next meeting when Ms. Harrison is present.

Board of Health Responsibilities:

  • Beavers – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
  • Body Art Regulations – There was nothing to report.
  • Bulky Day – Ms. Klick informed the Board that this is pretty well set up.  The tire truck will be there on Bulky Day.   She is checking into different prices for recycling of computers, T V’s, etc. She stated she had called Allied Waste for a container for the town-wide cleanup.  The container will arrive on April 23rd and be picked up on the following Monday.  This year the Board of Health will not have to buy the bags as they are being provided by someone else.  
Communicable Diseases – There was one case of Lyme disease.
Emergency Preparedness – There was nothing to report.
Finances – Dr. Smith had nothing to report.  However, he did mention a possible 4% decrease in municipal aid.
Floor Drains – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
Food Safety – There was nothing to report.
Hazardous Waste Day – There was nothing to report.
Health Fair – This will be held in September.
Housing Safety – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
Medical Reserve Corps – There was nothing to report.
Outdoor Hydronic Heaters – There is a new application for Lorri McCool to review from Chad Richardson at 76 Carpenter Road.
Press Relations – Dr. Smith had nothing to report.
Recycling – Ms. Klick had nothing to report.
Tobacco – Dr. Smith had nothing to report.
Trash – Ms. Klick informed the Board that a crib mattress was left by the side of Hovey Road and was picked up by Allied Waste.
Wells –Mr. Allard had nothing to report.

There was no other business to come before the Board.

Correspondence was read and responded to by the Board.

At 8:30 p.m. Ms. Klick moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Mr. Allard and voted unanimously.
