Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order by Chairman Gary Allard at 7:30 p.m., with members Robert Bator and Phyllis Klick present. Absent were members Dr. Richard Smith and Jane Jacobs. Barbara Moran was also present.
The Board discussed Mr. Philip Mederios’ request to meet with the Board to address an extension date to repair violations cited by Health Inspector, Lorri McCool, on March 8, 2007 at property located at 181 Brimfield Road. The Board requested that Mr. Mederios be invited to attend the next meeting on May 2nd. Ms. McCool will be asked to attend as well.
Barbara Moran met with the Board to ask if fees have changed for Bulky Day. She will need to know this in order to use last year’s Bulky Day coupons. She was informed that refrigerators, computers, etc will be charged the same fee as last year, but excessive items will be charged extra, i.e. $5.00, $10.00 and other. Barbara will make up a new coupon indicating this.
Next item for discussion was ordering of the mosquito briquettes. There is a $1,000 in the budget for this purpose and the briquettes will be ordered.
Discussion followed in regard to the banner for Household Hazardous Waste Day to be held on June 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The banner will be double-sided and the date is incorrect and will be changed. Mr. Allard will speak to the owner of Hampden Signs.
Ms. Klick asked Ms. Taft to contact Meridian Tire and confirm a truck will be available for tire collection during Household Hazardous Waste Day.
Also, Ms. Klick asked Ms. Taft to contact Sandy Etre at Allied Waste to see if a container will be available for the collection of 4-foot household fluorescent bulbs on Bulky Day and Hazardous Waste Day.
After the Board of Health read a letter from Beverly Hirschhorn, Tobacco Grant Manager, in regard to Mr. Ernie May, the Board asked Ms. Taft to contact Ms. Hirschhorn and confirm they would like to meet with the individual who she recommended to fill Mr. May’s place at their next meeting on May 2nd.
The banner for Bulky Day was discussed. The Fire Department has the banner and the date will need to be changed from October 2006 to May 2007. Mr. Allard will pick up the banner and have Hampden Sign correct the date.
