Open the Meeting: The meeting was called to order at 4:15pm.
Accept the Minutes: A motion was made by Allan and seconded by Russell to accept the minutes of February 27, 2012. The motion passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
- The Board discussed the information that the Principal Assessor obtained from the DOR regarding charitable properties, solar panels and PILOT programs.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Board voted and approved the following Motor Vehicle Abatements:
- 2009 Abatements in the amount of $51.25
- 2010 Abatements in the amount of $132.29
- 2011 Abatements in the amount of $132.51
- 2012 Abatements in the amount of $2,592.96
The Board voted and approved the following Motor Vehicle Commitments:
- 2011 – commitment 08 in the amount of $280.22
- 2012 – commitment 02 in the amount of $92,922.81
- 2012 – re-commitment 02A in the amount of $350.00
The Board voted and approved the following Real Estate/CPA Exemptions:
- 1 – Clause 22 veteran exemption in the amount of $400.00/$12.00 CPA
The Board voted and denied the following Real Estate Exemptions:
- 1 – 41C elderly exemption
The Board reviewed the copies of the lease agreements that were provided by CIL Realty regarding 3 of the properties that they own in town. The board reviewed and discussed the laws pertaining to charitable exemptions. The board also reviewed a 4th application for exemption, and requested the principal assessor acquire more information on the lessee before taking action.
The Board voted and denied the following Charitable Exemptions:
- 3 – Clause 3 charitable exemption
The Board reviewed and discussed the two warrant articles for the upcoming annual town meeting. A motion was made by Allan to increase the 41C elderly exemption limits as follows: Maximum income – Single – to $18,000; Married – to $28,000 and Maximum assets – Single – to $35,000; Married – to $50,000. Michael seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Allan to repeal the provision of M.G.L Ch59, Sec 58 that was voted on at the annual town meeting May 13,1996, article 34 as it is not applicable in a quarterly community. Michael seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The Board was updated on miscellaneous items.
The next meeting was scheduled for Monday April 23, 2012 at 4:15pm
ADJOURN: At 5:00pm, a motion was made by Allan and seconded by Michael to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
