Open the Meeting: The meeting was called to order at 11:30am.
Accept the Minutes: A motion was made by Craig and seconded by Allan to accept the February 25, 2010 minutes as written. The motion passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
Warren Group: The Board was updated on information that the Principal Assessor received from the Law Department at the Massachusetts Division of Public Records.
Uncollectable Excise: The Board of Assessors reviewed and signed the policy amending the process from “an Abatement of Tax” to “a Settlement of Levy. The Board also reviewed and signed the 2005 Motor Vehicle Settlement of Levy.
Tower View LLC: The Board was updated by the Principal Assessor in regards to a site visit at 288 Main St. The Board will accompany the Building Inspector, Fire Chief, Water & Sewer Dept., and Selectmen Ed Harrison on a visit (date to be determined) to inspect the improvements that have been made since last year.
NEW BUSINESS:
Exemptions: The Board voted and approved the following exemptions:
- 2 Veterans exemption clause 22 in the amount of $800
Abatements: The Board voted to approve the following Motor Vehicle Abatements:
- 2010 abatements in the amount of $3,194.07
- 2009 abatements in the amount of $274.17
- 2007 abatements in the amount of $303.13
Abatements: The Board voted to approve 2 Real Estate Abatements and denied 1 Real Estate Abatement.
Give Them Sanctuary: The Board met with Attorney Raymond Blanchette, who represented Mr. Jeffery Allard, to discuss the reasons for the denial on his exemption application. The Board explained to Attorney Blanchette why the application for exemption was denied and also explained what the next year’s process would be for filing for an exemption.
The board was updated on all miscellaneous items
NEXT MEETING: The next meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, April 15, 2010 @ 11:30 a.m.
ADJOURN: At 12:40pm, a motion was made by Allan and seconded by Russell to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
