Board of Assessors
Thursday, December 22, 2008

Open the Meeting:  The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m.  

Accept the Minutes: A motion was made by Craig and seconded by Allan to accept the December 4, 2008 minutes as amended.  

OLD BUSINESS:  

ATB:  The ATB hearing for 26 Park Road was held on December 9, 2008.  The decision now rest with the Appellate Tax Board.  The Town requested a Motion to Dismiss for 84 Town Farm Road which was accepted.  The Appellant did not show up for his appeal.
NEW BUSINESS:

Excise: The board approved the 2008 Motor Vehicle and Trailer Excise Abatements in the amount of $238.44; 2007 Motor Vehicle and Trailer Excise Abatements in the amount of $144.79.  

Assessors Warrant to Collect and Oath: The board signed the actual FY 2009 Real Estate warrant in the amount of $5,222,482.92;  the actual FY 2009 Personal Property warrant in the amount of $206,029.21 and the actual CPA warrant in the amount of $90,259.71.  The board also signed the Assessors Oath.

288 Main Street:         As voted at ATM for FY 2010 the assessment for 288 Main Street will be at 25% for tax purposes.  The board will visit the property in May or June of 2009 to determine any improvements to the property and adjust the assessment if necessary based on this visit.

Abatement: The board voted to abate “ProForma” property abatement for 108 Cote Road.  This home was destroyed by fire/explosion on November 25, 2008.
Exemptions: The board denied one Clause 41C Elderly Exemption due to income over the limit according to local acceptance.  The board voted to approve the following: 7-Clause 41C Elderly Exemptions; 42- Clause 22 Veteran’s Exemption; 5- Clause 22E Veteran’s Exemption; 1- Clause 22A Veterans Exemption; 2-Clause 37A Blind Exemption; 1 Clause 42 Surviving Spouse-Firefighter/Police Exemption.  These statutory exemptions totaled $32,724.29 with the CPA exempted in the amount of $1,005.31.

The board was updated on all miscellaneous items since the last meeting.

Diane informed the Board of Assessors and the Finance Director that she will be resigning from the position of Principal Assessor as she is taking a position in another municipality.  An official letter of resignation will be submitted this week.
