Town of Monson
Board of Assessors
Thursday, October 9, 2008

Members Present: Assessors Craig Benoit and Allan E. Curtis; Chairman Russell A. Bressette Jr., arrived at 11:30 a.m.
Members Absent:  
Principal Assessor: Diane L. Hildreth
Open the Meeting:  The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m.  
Accept the Minutes: A motion was made by Craig and seconded by Allan to accept the September 18, 2008 minutes as written.  

OLD BUSINESS:  
26 Park Rd-ATB:  The board met with Attorney Abdow and his client Anna Sroka to listen to their concerns regarding the assessment for 26 Park Road.  A site visit was suggested by the board.  Mrs. Sroka or her attorney will get back to us with her decision to allow this site visit.

NEW BUSINESS:

Excise: The board approved the following Motor Vehicle and Trailer Excise Abatements: 2008 in the amount of $1,168.12; 2007 in the amount of $31.67 & 2006 in the amount of $28.13.  The board also approved the following Motor Vehicle and Trailer Commitments as follows: 2008 Commitment 5 in the amount of $30,742.96; 2007 Commitment 11 in the amount of $2,666.47 & 2006 Re-Commitment 5A in the amount of $291.25.

Frontage/Secondary Building Sites:  The board reviewed the spreadsheets on all properties with secondary lots.  After reviewing these properties including properties that recently sold (with secondary lots) the board agreed the value of secondary lots should be reduced to $20,000.  Craig made a motion to value all secondary lot at $20,000 for FY 2009 and this was seconded by Russell.  Motion Passed unanimously.

LA-4, LA-13 & LA-15: All the supporting documentation for the LA-4, LA-13 & LA-15 was reviewed.  These state forms were signed and will be submitted to DOR via Gateway for approval.  

NEXT MEETING: The next meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2008 @ 10:30 a.m.

ADJOURN: At 1:05 p.m, a motion was made by Craig and seconded by Russell to adjourn.  Motion passed unanimously.
