Board of Assessors
Wednesday, January 17, 2007
Meeting convened at 4:00 p.m.

The minutes from the December 27, 2006 meeting was approved.
The Assessors reviewed and approved one Clause 41C Elderly Exemption and one Clause 22 Veteran Exemption. The board denied one Clause 41C due to not meeting income requirements. Five abatement applications for prepayment of taxes were processed along three applications for abatements that were reviewed and approved.
The Board reviewed the cost proposal from Bishop and Associates to complete a full review of all commercial /industrial and business personal property accounts. The board is in agreement that the commercial/Industrial properties are in need of thorough review and voted to put forth the amount of $11,500 to be included in the Assessors budget request for FY 2008.
The board reviewed the proposal from Tighe & Bond to bring the Town’s mapping up to date in GIS format. The board is in agreement that this project is necessary to our FY2008 Recertification and voted to put forth a warrant article at the annual town meeting. This amount will be included for informational purposes to the finance committee to make them aware of the need for this additional funding.
The board briefly reviewed the local option to exempt personal property account under $10,000. Diane is proposing to bring forth to town meeting a warrant article to exempt the first $5,000. This matter was tabled and will be revisited at the next meeting.
The conversion process is currently taking place. Diane is working closely with Vision to ensure the values convert smoothly. There will be a need to purchase a new computer to host the counter terminal database. Diane will order this computer to first use as a holding station for the out-going CLT software until the new software is up and running. Once the conversion is final and values are solid this computer will revert to a counter terminal as originally intended.
All other correspondence since the last meeting was reviewed.
