  • Chair Hays called the meeting to order at 7:40pm in the Library at Milton High School.
  • This evening was devoted to the presentation of the School Department budget for FY15 to the Warrant Committee. Early on Mr. Walker updated the committee on the imminent conclusion of union negotiations. Discussion of the budget began with a review of the “Advancement Budget” initiative funded for FY14, its early success and impacts, and the evidence of more recent test scores underlining its continued necessity and justification for expansion of this approach. A greater emphasis on STEM was considered within the context of limited resources. Beyond the financial requirements of the advancements proposed, other drivers of the budget were presented including athletics and new testing protocols with their related technology and professional development costs.
  • Chair Hays asked the School Committee how their request could fit into the Town’s budget as a whole without an override but the discussion was inconclusive as some key figures, including the Group Insurance budget, were as yet unavailable.
  • Chair Hays thanked the School Committee and administration for their presentation.
  • On a motion made by Member Genega and seconded by Member Pasquerella the Warrant Committee voted unanimously to adjourn at 10:10 pm. 9/0/0

Reserve Fund:   $241,397.00

Respectfully submitted,
Ted Hays, Warrant Committee Chair
