The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in Milton High School prior to the beginning of the    sixth evening    of the 2006 Annual Town Meeting.

Following corrections, on a motion made by Member Winston and seconded by Member Hurley, the minutes of May 9, 2006 were approved 8-0-1.

Chair Conlon recused herself from the meeting prior to discussion on Article 46, Historical Demolition.  Member John O’Connor advised the Committee of a possible revision to the article to be presented at this evening’s Town Meeting.  The Committee discussed the possible amendment to Section 3 A (ii) which would revise  buildings  constructed before 1929 to buildings constructed before 1919.  Due to the uncertainty of the possible revision, the Committee deferred further consideration until Town Meeting convenes and the amendment is presented.  Chair Conlon returned to the meeting.

A conference was held with Director of Public Works Walter Heller who reviewed with the Committee his request for a $40,000 Reserve Fund transfer to his FY 2006 Vehicle Maintenance appropriation.  He advised the Committee that this extraordinary request was due partly to replacement of engines on major vehicles, repairs of emergency vehicles, cost of tires and the rise in the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel.  He advised the Committee that the price of tires and brake pads have doubled.  He explained the billing system used to allocate the cost of gasoline to the various Town departments.  Following discussion, the Committee voted 11-0-0, on a motion made by Secretary Lowney and seconded by Member Gray, to approve a $40,000 Reserve Fund transfer to the FY 2006 DPW Vehicle Maintenance appropriation.

The meeting recessed at 7:10 p.m. to allow the Warrant Committee to attend the sixth evening of the 2006 Annual Town Meeting.
