BOARD OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2013

In attendance:  Denis F. Keohane, J. Thomas Hurley, Kathleen M. Conlon, Annemarie Fagan, Town Administrator and Paula Rizzi, Executive Secretary

1.      Chairman Keohane convened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Cronin Conference Room of the Town Hall.

2.      J. Thomas Hurley moved, Kathleen M. Conlon seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the August 21, 2013 meeting minutes as amended.

3.      The Board confirmed September 19, 2013 and September 26, 2013 as future meeting dates.

5.      Philip Johenning, 23 Parkwood Drive, addressed the Board requesting that residents concerned with airplane noise attend the next Senator Brian Joyce’s office hours at the Council on Aging.  Mr. Johenning also inquired about what type of sewer/septic system is planned for the proposed 40B development off Hillside Street.

6.      Chief Grant introduced Adam Donovan, a new Firefighter, and presented his quarterly report to the Board of Selectmen.

7.      J. Thomas Hurley moved, Kathleen M. Conlon seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Walter C. White, 38 Windsor Road, to the position of Temporary, Part-time Local Building Inspector, contingent upon approval by the Personnel Board.

8.      Kathleen M. Conlon moved, J. Thomas Hurley seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Peter Wood, 360 Holden Street, Holden, MA and Joshua Hoglan, 50 Everygreen Street, Jamaica Plain, as engineering interns contingent upon approval by the Personnel Board.

9.      The Board deferred a vote on a request from the Planning Board to remove four of the articles it has submitted for inclusion in the October Town Meeting warrant.

10.     J. Thomas Hurley moved, Kathleen M. Conlon seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the request of the Library Trustees to display a banner on the grounds of the Library announcing, “Milton Reads” month.

11.     J. Thomas Hurley moved, Kathleen M. Conlon seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the use of the Town’s streets and ways for the sixth annual Milton Thanksgiving 5K Road Race for Best Buddies that is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. contingent upon approval by the Police Chief.

12.     Kathleen M. Conlon moved, J. Thomas Hurley seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Edward J. Villard, 25 Cedar Road, to the Celebration of Holidays Committee to serve through June 2014.

13.     Kathleen M. Conlon moved, J. Thomas Hurley seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the appointments of the following members to the Capital Improvements Planning Committee to serve through August 2014:  Kevin Sorgi, Amy Dexter, J. Thomas Hurley, Bernard J. Lynch, III, Leroy Walker and Christopher Huban.

14.     J. Thomas Hurley moved, Kathleen M. Conlon seconded and the Board voted unanimously at 7:12 p.m. to adjourn.
