BOARD OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING, TUESDAY, MAY 3, 2011

In attendance:  Robert C. Sweeney, John M. Shields, J. Thomas Hurley, Kevin J. Mearn, Town Administrator, Annemarie Fagan, Assistant Town Administrator, Paula Rizzi, Executive Secretary

1.      The Board convened a meeting of the Board of Selectmen at 6:40 p.m. in Room 201 of Milton High School.

2.      Robert C. Sweeney moved, J. Thomas Hurley seconded and the Board voted to approve a request for two (2), one day liquor licenses for the Milton Woman’s Club for a Chess Club event that will take place on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 7:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.

3.      J. Thomas Hurley moved, Robert C. Sweeney seconded and the Board voted to approve forwarding to the Warrant Committee a Reserve Fund Transfer request in the amount of $25,610 to cover the cost of veterans’ benefits and contractual obligations with the Town of Randolph for the Veteran’s Agent.

4.      J. Thomas Hurley moved, Robert C. Sweeney seconded and the Board voted to approve the award of a contract in the amount of $144,440 to National Water Main Cleaning company of Canton for the Town’s annual drain line cleaning and inspection and to authorize the Town Administrator to sign all pertinent documents on behalf of the Board.

5.      The Board met with DPW Director Joseph Lynch to discuss the option of changing our current trash sticker to one that is considered more tamper proof and would have a cost saving benefit as well.  The Board will consider the proposal and discuss it further at its May 16, 2011 meeting.

6.      The Board deferred requests for amendments to the Traffic Rules and Orders to its May 16, 2011 meeting.

7.      Town Meeting adjourned at 10:05 p.m.
