BOARD OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING, THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2010 5:30 p.m.

In attendance:  Marion V. McEttrick, Robert C. Sweeney, John M. Shields, Kevin J. Mearn, Town Administrator,  Annemarie Fagan, Assistant Town Administrator

  • The Board convened an emergency meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the John A. Cronin Conference Room of the Town Hall due to the fire at 302 Adams Street, Milton.
2.      A conference was held with Fire Chief Jack Grant and Building Commissioner Joseph Prondak regarding the fire.  Following discussion, Robert C. Sweeney moved, Marion V. McEttrick seconded and the Board voted that under Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 143, Section 7, the Board of Selectmen authorize the Building Commissioner to direct the owners of 302 Adams Street to have the building demolished immediately due to public safety issues.

3.      Mr. Sweeney left the meeting at 5:44 p.m.

4.      Mr. Shields joined the meeting at 5:46 p.m.  The Fire Chief, Building Commissioner and Mrs. McEttrick discussed the issue with Mr. Shields.  Mr. Shields concurred with the vote of the Board.

5.      Marion V. McEttrick, John Michael Shields, Kevin J. Mearn, and Fire Chief Jack Grant continued the meeting at 302 Adams Street to view damage to the property.  

6.      The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
