SELECTMEN’S MEETING, TUESDAY, MAY 2, 2005         6:00 p.m.                                 

In attendance: Charles J. McCarthy, Marion V. McEttrick, James G. Mullen, Jr., David Colton, Town Administrator and Paula Rizzi, Executive Secretary

Charles J. McCarthy moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the renewal of the following taxi cab licenses: Milton Taxi, Inc.- 26 licenses, Milton Cab Company - 25 licenses and Owl Taxi Company - 1 license.

Charles J. McCarthy moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the award of the bid for the reconstruction and intersection signalization of Thacher Street to Santorelli Construction in the amount of $1,018,975.00 and to authorize the Town Administrator to sign the contract on behalf of the Board.

Charles J. McCarthy moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve and sign a proclamation acknowledging the week of May 15, 2005 as National Public Works Week.

Charles J. McCarthy moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the requests of the Milton Garden Club, the Milton Girl Scouts, Tucker School PTO and Friends of the Library to hang banners at the corner of Reedsdale Road and Randolph Avenue announcing the Garden Club’s Perennial Sale, the Girl Scout’s open registration, Tucker School Annual Spring Fair and the Friends of the Public Library gala at the JFK Library.

Charles J. McCarthy moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the request of the Tucker School PTO to use the Town Hall parking lot on May 14, 2005 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to hold a fund raising doughnut sale.

The Board referred a request from Ann Craft for permission to establish a permanent memorial for her daughter who was killed in a traffic accident on November 14, 2004 to the Traffic Commission.

The Board met with Nicholas Carter, Chair of the Historical Commission to discuss Article 44-Demolition Delay of Historical Buildings.

Charles J. McCarthy moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted to recess and to meet jointly with the School Committee at 6:30 p.m. and to attend Town Meeting.

The Board voted to enter Executive Session with Marion V. McEttrick voting yes, Charles J. McCarthy voting yes and James G. Mullen, Jr. voting yes to discuss Collective Bargaining and to return to Open Session to attend Town Meeting.
