SELECTMEN’S MEETING      THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 2005             7:00 P.M.

This was a joint meeting/public hearing of the Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board to discuss the development of the Department of Public Works Yard located at 629 Randolph Avenue.

In attendance: Marion V. McEttrick, Charles J. McCarthy, James G. Mullen, Jr., David A. Colton, Town Administrator, Paula Rizzi, Executive Secretary, Aaron Henry, Town Planner,
Alexander Whiteside, Planning Board Chair, Bernard Lynch, III, Edward Duffy, William Dolan and Michael Zimmer.

Chair McEttrick made opening remarks and introduced members of the Board of Selectmen and  members of the Planning Board.

Ms. McEttrick also introduced Attorney Jon Witten and his assistant Barbara Huggins who have been retained by the town for their expertise in the development of RFP’s and the laws that define them.

Ms. McEttrick explained the purpose of the hearing focusing on desired outcomes, what the Town wants and doesn’t want as it pertains to the development of this property, and she also reviewed the procedures for the hearing.

Town Planner Aaron Henry reviewed the Community Development Plan  including the development of the Town Yard site and the RFP process.

Alexander Whiteside, Chair of the Planning Committee, commented on the RFP process asking participants to contribute specific ideas regarding the development of the Town Yard to the Planning Board for its consideration.

The Selectmen and Alexander Whiteside made closing remarks encouraging residents to communicate their ideas regarding the development of the Town Yard and the creation of an RFP for that purpose.

The hearing was adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
