SELECTMEN’S MEETING    MONDAY, JUNE 28, 2004              5:30 P.M.

In attendance: Charles J. McCarthy, Marion V. McEttrick, James G. Mullen, Jr., David W. Owen, Town Administrator and Annemarie Fagan, Assistant Town Administrator.


Marion V. McEttrick moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the meeting minutes of June 21, 2004  as amended.

Marion V. McEttrick moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the promotional appointment of James Donahue from a  W2, Step 1,  Maintenance Man, Apprentice Tree Surgeon, MEO Grade 1  to the position of W4, Step 1, Working Foreman, Public Works Construction & Maintenance Craftsman, MEO Grade 2, effective July 5, 2004, subject to the concurrence of the Personnel Board.

Marion V. McEttrick moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the promotional appointment of David Cunha from a W4, Step 2, Working Foreman, Public Works Construction & Maintenance Craftsman, MEO Grade 2 to the position of W5, Step 3, Working Foreman, Public Works Construction & Maintenance Craftsman, Tree Surgeon, MEO Grade 3, effective July 5, 2004, subject to the concurrence of the Personnel Board.

Marion V. McEttrick moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the promotional appointment of Paul Scanlan from a W3, Step 1, Public Works Construction & Maintenance Craftsman, MEO Grade 2 to the position of W5, Step 1, Working Foreman, Public Works Construction & Maintenance Craftsman, Tree Surgeon, MEO Grade 3, effective July 5, 2004, subject to the concurrence of the Personnel Board.

3       Marion V. McEttrick moved, James G. Mullen, Jr. seconded and the Board voted unanimously to award a three (3) year contract for Police-directed towing services to Auto Service & Tire, Inc., 1590 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, and to authorize the Town Administrator to sign the contract and related documents on behalf of the Board.


4       The Board conducted interviews with the following six candidates for the position of Patrol Officer:
        
        Kimberly M. Griffiths
        Christopher M. Nee
        Lisa R. Leite
        Christopher R. St. Ives
        Christopher T. Hertel
        Anthony J. Holmes


5       A conference was held with Kevin J. Mearn, Chief of Police.  Discussed was his request to hire vacation replacement coverage for the Animal Control Officer.  Following discussion James G. Mullen, Jr. moved, Marion V. McEttrick seconded and the Board voted unanimously to transfer $1,900 from the Police Department Personnel Services line item to its Leash Law line item, subject to the concurrence of the Warrant Committee to fund vacation replacement coverage for the Animal Control Officer.

James G. Mullen, Jr. moved, Marion V. McEttrick seconded and the Board voted unanimously at 7:00 p.m. to adjourn.
