SELECTMEN’S MEETING TUESDAY, MAY 6, 2003 7:00 P.M.
In attendance: James G. Mullen, Jr., Marion V. McEttrick, Charles J. McCarthy, David W. Owen, Town Administrator and Paula Rizzi, Executive Secretary-Room A-9, Milton High School
The Board approved the meeting minutes from May 5, 2003.
The Board met with DPW Director David Colton regarding two vacancies that presently exist in his department. Mr. Colton would like to post these two positions ( W-6 and W-4) and begin the hiring process now. This process is expected to take two months and will have no impact on the hiring freeze in place in the DPW or on its ability to meet the appropriation reduction being considered by the Special Town Meeting. Marion V. McEttrick moved, Charles J. McCarthy seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the posting of two vacancies in the Department of Public Works Department, level W-6 and W-4.
Police chief Kevin Mearn made a request in writing to withdraw from override consideration and remove Article 13 contingency appropriations that were voted and approved at Town Meeting on May 5, 2003. The Board agreed rather than opening Article 13, it would deal with this request when it formulated a question for a special election.
The Board set the next meeting date as Monday, May 12, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building.
Marion V. McEttrick moved, Charles J. McCarthy seconded and the Board voted unanimously to recess until 7:30 p.m.
Meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
