The eighth  meeting of the Personnel Board for FY2006 was held on Tuesday, March 14,  2006,  in the John A. Cronin Conference Room at 7:00 p.m.

Present:        Stephen Hennessy, Iris Kennedy, Ann White

Absent: John Pender and  Michael Reardon

The Board deferred the following meeting minutes:  January 19, 2006 and February 14, 2006.

Ann White moved, Iris Kennedy seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the appointments of Brian D. Foley, 98 Sassoon Avenue and Michelle Moravia, 14 Rose Street to the position of cadet in the Milton Police Cadet Program contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation, psychological and medical evaluation.

Ann White moved, Iris Kennedy seconded and the Board voted unanimously to amend the Chapter 13 Fringe Benefits for employees under their jurisdiction as follows:

Vacation

       Beginning with the 11th year vacation           20 days

period and through the 20th year
vacation period

        Beginning with the 21st year vacation period            25 days
Sick Leave

Employees shall be permitted to use five (5) sick days per year to care for an immediate family member.



Bereavement Leave


       In the event of a death in the immediate family of an employee, the  employee will be granted up to five (5) days' leave without loss of pay, the last day of which shall be the date of the funeral or memorial services, and such leave shall not be charged to sick leave or vacation leave. Immediate family is defined as spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, brother, sister. In the event of the death of a grandmother, grandfather, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandson, granddaughter, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law, the employee will be  granted up to three (3) days leave without loss of pay and such leave will not be charged to sick leave or vacation leave.

Accumulated Sick Leave Plan

       Employees who are employed for 18 or more consecutive years and who die or  retire under Chapter 32 of the General Laws of Massachusetts because of disability or superannuation shall be eligible or compensation for unused sick leave.
     
        After 18 years of full-time employment, eligible full-time employees shall receive  $30 per day for each day of sick leave accumulated in excess of 50 days, with no  maximum.

Personal Leave Days

       Each permanent employee shall be guaranteed one (1) personal leave day per year on July 1st and be given the opportunity to earn four (4) additional personal days, based on perfect attendance in the preceding three months. Permanent part-time employees shall receive pro-rated personal days in accordance with the ratio that their hours of work bear to the full-time workweek.
