The seventh meeting of the Personnel Board for FY2006 was held on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in the John A. Cronin Conference Room at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Stephen Hennessy, John Pender, Ann White and Michael Reardon
Absent: Iris Kennedy
Stephen Hennessy moved, John Pender seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the December 13, 2005 meeting minutes.
The Board deferred approval of the January 19, 2006 meeting minutes.
A conference was held with Chief of Police Kevin Mearn. Discussed were the four patrol officer
appointments. Following discussion, Stephen Hennessy moved, Ann White seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the following Patrol Officer appointments in the Milton Police Department, conditional upon the candidates successful completion of the background check, medical and psychological exams, Physical Agility Test, and with the stipulation that these appointments are in compliance with all civil service and union rules:
Jason R. Conklin, 47 Glendale Road, Milton
Matthew J. Morrissey, 10 Maitland Street, Milton
Jennifer K. Daukas, 19 Jordan Drive, Weymouth
Stephen Hennessy moved, Ann White seconded and the Board voted 2-1, with John Pender voting no, to approve the appointment of Eric Choi, 140 Safford Street, Quincy, MA, as a patrol officer in the Milton Police Department, conditional upon the candidates successful completion of the background check, medical and
psychological exams, Physical Agility Test, and with the stipulation that these appointments are in compliance with all civil service and union rules.
These patrol officer appointments become effective when the four individuals enter the police academy.
Ann White moved, John Pender seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the following Substitute Traffic Supervisor appointments in the Milton Police Department:
Agnes G. Dillon, 54 Avalon Road, Milton
Marcia P. Childs, 55 Cypress Road, Milton
John Pender moved, Ann White seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Diane Colligan, Principal Clerk in the Building Department, to the position of Senior Administrative Clerk of the Milton Board of Appeals as recommended by John Leonard, Chair, Board of Appeals, Level 4, Step 3, effective February 20, 2006.
Stephen Hennessy moved, Ann White seconded and the Board voted unanimously to approve the revised Board of Health FY07 Preliminary Salary Sheet in the amount of $141,817.73 due to the reclassification of the Health Inspector.
The Board discussed a FY07 wage adjustment for Chapter 13 personnel under its jurisdiction. Following discussion, Stephen Hennessy moved, John Pender seconded and the Board voted unanimously to recommend to the Warrant Committee a 2.5% wage adjustment for FY07 for Chapter 13 personnel under its jurisdiction.
The Board reviewed the Town Administrators January 3, 2006 memorandum resolving the grievance filed by clerical union employees relative to the vote taken by the Personnel Board at its December 13, 2005 meeting with respect to the new step for these employees following approval of a reclassification. The Board requested that the Chairman draft a response letter to the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator.
