The fifth  meeting of the Personnel Board for FY2004 was held on Wednesday, October 8, 2003,  in the Town Office Building at 7:00 p.m.

Present: Stephen G. Hennessy, John Pender, and Paul Lyons

Absent: Iris Kennedy and Ann White

The Board approved the minutes of the meeting held September 24, 2003 as amended.

The Board deferred approval of  the minutes of the meeting held September 10, 2003.
A conference was held with  Kevin J. Mearn, Chief of Police regarding Civilian Emergency Dispatch Positions.  Following discussion, the Board voted unanimously  to:


Approve the appointment of Kristen P. Chipman, 4 Galen Street, Milton, MA, to the position of Civilian Emergency Dispatcher, Level 3, Step 2,  in the Milton Police Department.

Approve the appointment of Alicia M. McGrail, 64 Sheldon Street, Milton, MA, to the position of Civilian Emergency Dispatcher, Level 3, Step 2,  in the Milton Police Department.

Approve the job description for the Civilian Emergency Dispatch Position.

Approve the appointment of Bettye J. Hudson, 18 Rock View Road,  Milton, MA, to the position of Substitute Traffic Supervisor as recommended by the Chief of Police.

The Board voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Daniel M. Rota, Jr., 27 Pinewood Road, Avon, MA,  to the position of W2 , Step 1,  Maintenance Man, Apprentice Tree Surgeon, MEO Grade 1, effective October 20,  2003, in the Department of Public Works,  subject to successful completion of the required pre-employment medical exam and with the stipulation that all civil service and union rules have been complied with.

The Board voted unanimously to approve and forward to the Warrant Committee the following FY05 Preliminary Salary Sheets:

Milton Public Library           $668,781.02
        Town Clerk                      $  94,147.20
Wire                            $161,498.44
Building Department             $167,767.63
