Minutes of Board of Selectman Meeting
December 15, 2014
The special meeting of the Board of Health was called to order at 7:30 p.m. in room 229 of the Veteran Memorial Building by motion of Bonnie Hilton, seconded by Kathleen Lannon.
Present were board members Kathleen Lannon and Bonnie Hilton. Also attending were Barbara Thissell, Director of Health, and Karen D’Angelo, Public Health Nurse. The meeting was held in conjunction with the Board of Selectmen at their request in order to discuss deer management practices as a means of managing deer ticks in Millis.
Kathleen Lannon presented information on the benefits of reducing deer-tick related disease through reducing and managing the deer population. She referred the selectmen to research conducted by the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension Service and to the Fairfield County (Connecticut) Deer Management Alliance.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm by motion of Hilton, seconded by Lannon with a unanimous vote, 2-0.
