Chairman King called the meeting to order
Mr. Spain explained that the town clerk received a citizen’s petition with over 300 signatures; 200 are required by law. You are the required to call a special town meeting within 45 days. We have to put the special town meeting in the newspaper by September 11th; citizens have five days to submit articles or September 18, 2014. Then we have to close the warrant and the Town Clerk has to post the warrant 14 days prior to the meeting or on September 23, 2014. We have to call another special meeting to close the warrant. The special town meeting will be held on October 7, 2014.
Call for Special Town Meeting and Open Warrant
Motion to call for a Special Town Meeting on October 7, 2014 and open the warrant made by Selectman Ashmankas, seconded by Selectman Borowski.
Approved by roll call vote.
We have hired an energy manager in conjunction with Sutton and paid for by a grant.
Motion to concur with the appointment made by Selectman Borowski, seconded by Selectman Ashmankas.
Approved by roll call vote.
The Building Inspector that he asked for a conditional appointment of at the August 26th meeting has turned the job down. We are working on a second choice.
Selectman Cristo asked for our town council review their warrant article to make sure it is legal. Mr. Spain explained that they do that for each warrant but citizen petitions need to be put in exactly as written; they may be able to amend it on the floor of the town meeting.
