Friday, June 10, 2005
Present: Selectman Cahalane, Selectman Cook, Selectman Taylor, Town Manager, Joyce Mason, School Committee Members Janice Mills, Mary Rose Grady, Peter Thomas and Mollie Reis
Guests: F. Thomas Fudala and Rebecca Romkey
The meeting was called to order at 9:03 a.m. by both Selectman and School Committee
APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS
The Board of Selectmen and School Committee held a joint meeting for the purpose of filling the unexpired term of School committee Member Theresa Cook.
Chairman Mills forwarded the School Committee’s recommendation of Rebecca Romkey to fill the one year term.
Motion was made by Selectman Cook to appoint Rebecca Romkey to the School Committee for a term of one year. Selectman Cahalane seconded the motion. Roll call vote was as follows:
Selectman Taylor – Yes
Selectman Cook – Yes
Selectman Cahalane – Yes
Motion was made by School Committee Member Mary Rose Grady to appoint Rebecca Romkey to the School Committee for a term of one year. School Committee Member Peter Thomas seconded the motion. Roll call vote was as follows:
School Committee Chairman Mills – Yes
School Committee Member Grady – Yes
School Committee Member Reis – Yes
School Committee Member Thomas – Yes
Peter Thomas moved to adjourn the meeting of the School Committee. Mary Rose Grady seconded the motion. All were in favor. Meeting of the School Committee adjourned at 9:08 a.m.
NEW BUSINESS
1) The Board of Selectmen reviewed the letter of resignation from Assistant Town Planner Eric Smith who has accepted the position of Town Planner in Ashburnham effective June 30, 2005.
Selectman Cook moved to accept with regret the resignation of Eric smith as Assistant Town Planner. Selectman Taylor seconded the motion. All present were in favor.
2) Joyce Mason advised the Board of the DCPC hearing that will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 7:45 p.m. by the Planning Board. The Board was also advised that Beverly Kane, Chairman of the Planning Board will be attending the June 20th meeting of the Board to discuss the DCPC application and seeking the Selectmen’s comments.
3) Selectman Cahalane moved to have Certificates of Appreciation prepared for Eric Smith and Alan Samry.
Being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:20 a.m.
