Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Taylor at 6:32 p.m.
Mashpee High School
The Board of Selectmen met at the Mashpee High School prior to the
October Town Meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Appointment of Interim Treasurer/Tax Collector – Renè Read:
Motion made by Selectman Green to place the above topic on the
Selectmen’s agenda.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cook.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Renè Read, Assistant Town Manager was recommended by the Town Manager and Town Auditor for appointment to serve as Interim Treasurer/Tax Collector in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 41, §40.
Motion made by Selectman Cook to appoint Renè Read as Interim
Treasurer/Tax Collector.
Motion seconded by Selectman Green.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Town Meeting Warrant – Discussion of Motions:
Article 6: Board of Assessor’s Stipend.
At the May 2006 Town Meeting, the Board of Assessor’s $1,200 annual stipend was not approved.
Article 6 was submitted by the Board of Assessor’s requesting approval to
re-instate the stipend paid to members of the Board of Assessor’s. Since the stipends were specifically discontinued by Town Meeting as part of the FY07 budget, the Selectmen agreed the request should be included as part of the FY08 budget process, and come before the voters at the May 2007 Town Meeting.
Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to indefinitely postpone Article 6 as referenced.
Motion seconded by Selectman Myers.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
The Selectmen are now in concurrence with the Finance Committee on Article 6 and with all of the articles on the October Town Meeting Warrant.

Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to adjourn at 6:48 p.m.
Motion seconded by Selectman Green.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
