Mashpee Board of selectmen
Thursday, July 10, 2014
Present: Selectman Taylor, Selectman Richardson, Selectman Cahalane, Selectman Gottlieb, Town Manager Joyce Mason, and Assistant Town Manager Tom Mayo.
Absent: Selectman Sherman
Guests: Reporter Geoff Spillane
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taylor at 9:00 a.m.
NEW BUSINESS
Town Manager, Joyce Mason submitted for the Boards consideration the hiring of Michael Mendoza as the Town’s next Building Commissioner.
The recommendation resulted from a four member panel consisting of Selectman Cahalane, Selectman Gottlieb, Human Resource Director, Kathleen Moore and Thomas Perry, Building Commissioner from Barnstable, who interviewed six candidates. The panel voted unanimously to highly recommend Mr. Mendoza based on his qualifications, knowledge, experience and leadership skills.
Following discussion Selectman Gottlieb moved to certify and confirm the hiring of Mr. Mendoza. Motion was seconded by Selectman Richardson.

Selectman Cahalane – Yes
Selectman Taylor – Yes
LIAISON REPORTS
Selectman Gottlieb advised the Board that he had submitted an amendment to the Environmental Bond Bill to include funding for the relocation of the access road to South Cape Beach/Wills Work Road.
Selectman Taylor advised the Board that the Community Preservation Committee will request Leila Botsford to attend the September 9th meeting to discuss the Housing Assistance Program. He also indicated the Housing Authority was seeking additional

funding for this program as well as a home buy-down program. Selectman Taylor invited anyone interested in this discussion to attend the September 9th meeting.
The Board authorized the Town Manager to contract with the Town’s auditor to conduct an audit of the Housing Assistance Program.
Being no further business, Selectmen Richardson moved to adjourn the meeting at
9:15 a.m. Motion was seconded by Selectman Gottlieb, all were in favor.
