Pre/Post Hearing Agenda:
Minutes: No minutes
Mark Gurnee requested the town landing boat ramp at Ockway Bay be discussed. Roll Call vote was taken to hold the discussion. Chairman Fitzsimmons, yes; Mr. Shaw, yes; Mr. Sweet, yes; and Mr. Gurnee, yes.
Mr.Gurnee stated there is a new dock at the boat ramp at Ockway Bay and he asked if someone has come to Conservation Commission for executive advisement. Drew McManus stated no one has come for any possible permitting or review by the Conservation Commission. Mr. Gurnee also stated he did not see any identifiable marks but would check again.
Drew McManus informed the Commissioners that he went out with the Harbormaster on Wednesday morning to take a tour of New Seabury creek and coves, Popponesset Island and Ockway Bay to take a look at different docks and piers that had additional floats above and beyond the size of their permitted plans as well as the jet ski floats and docks that lack proper signage and DEP numbers and he came up with a list of about 30 different docks that have various violations. Drew said he will be sending out letters to let people know what they need to do to make their docks into compliance. Agent McManus stated he did see some of the docks have jet ski mats. The harbormaster would like them to install jet ski lifts so we wouldn’t have so much shading out of possible shellfish growing areas. He said he
wasn’t aware of how many jet ski floats were out there and none of them having any permitting and are not marked. They could break loose and become storm borne debris. Drew said he will be following up on this.
