COUNCIL ON AGING MINUTES
March 11, 2015
Present: Council on Aging Members Irving Goldberg, Jack Jordan, Virginia McIntyre, Marijo Gorney, Jean Noussee, Mary Gaffney, Jack Dorsey, Outreach Coordinator Darlene Perkins.
Absent: Council on Aging Director Lynne Waterman, Ernie Cornelssen and Norah McCormick
Chairman Irving Goldberg opened the meeting at 8:35 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES – February 11, 2015
Motion: Jack Jordan moved to approve the minutes of February 11, 2015, seconded by Jack Dorsey. Vote unanimous 7-0

COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
In the absence of Director Lynne Waterman, Outreach Coordinator Darlene Perkins distributed the Director’s report for the month of February to the members for their review. The Outreach Coordinator highlighted the AARP Tax Assistance Program. She also noted that she and the Director met with the new leaders of the singing group, the new volunteer assisting with the aerobics class, the new volunteers coordinating the movies, and staff from a local home care agency to plan a future program.
The Outreach Coordinator reported there were no issues with the van. She thanked the DPW for their work replacing several lights and resolving various issues with the heating.
The Outreach Coordinator reviewed the meetings that the Director attended: Staff, Parkinson’s Support Network of Cape Cod, Board of Directors, Human Services Committee and COAST (Cape Cod Senior Center Directors). In addition, the Director and Outreach Coordinator met with staff from the memory assisted living facility being constructed and also met with the van drivers.
The Director and the Volunteer Coordinator have begun working on the annual volunteer recognition event.
The Director’s goals: complete the reorganization of the files pertaining to the building, plan programs for May and continue training the office assistant.
Motion: Jack Dorsey moved to accept the Director’s Report, seconded by Jack Jordan. Vote unanimous 7-0
TREASURER’S REPORT
Outreach Coordinator distributed the budget report for their review.
Motion: Jean Noussee moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Ginny McIntyre. Vote unanimous 7-0
OUTREACH COORDINATOR REPORT
Darlene Perkins distributed her report for the month of February. She highlighted they will be working with seniors on fuel assistance program applications thru April, the van has been helpful for the people who were unable to get out of their driveways during the storms and noted overall the seniors in Mashpee have done very well preparing for all of the storms.
Darlene reviewed her home visits. She noted she is working with seniors in need of finding affordable housing, working with adult children of Mashpee seniors, and continuing with the Brown Bag program.
Darlene said she is meeting monthly with volunteers. 11 Mashpee residents turned 90+ and received flowers delivered by a volunteer and is continuing the new Friendly Volunteers.
The Outreach Coordinator reviewed the meetings she attended: Elder Services Board of Directors, Cape Outreach Coordinator’s monthly meeting, met with the public nurse and attended a volunteer drivers training.
Motion: Jean Noussee moved to accept the Outreach Coordinator’s Report, seconded by Ginny McIntyre. Vote unanimous 7-0
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR REPORT
The Outreach Coordinator distributed and reviewed the Volunteer Coordinator Report.
It was noted that a small committee of volunteers has been organized to help with the recognition luncheon.
Motion: Jack Dorsey moved to accept the Volunteer Coordinator Report, seconded by Mary Gaffney. Vote unanimous 7-0
ACTIVITY COORDINATOR REPORT
Outreach Coordinator Darlene Perkins reviewed the Activity Coordinator report for the month of March. She noted NStar & National Grid rescheduled their program for April. She highlighted several of the programs which took place in February.
Motion: Mary Gaffney moved to accept the Activity Coordinator Report, seconded by Ginny McIntyre. Vote unanimous 7-0
