The pill abuse program sponsored by the Barnstable County Sheriff, TRIAD and the Mashpee Police Department was a success. Lynne along with the activity coordinator met with the staff of the Royal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to plan future programs such as the Octoberfest luncheon.
Lynne Waterman noted she has completed the drive-along process with the two permanent drivers and the two substitute drivers and one of the drivers is continuing to call seniors age eighty-five and older to inform them of the van schedules.
Lynne wanted to thank the DPW custodians for the good work they did in their twice a year cleaning of the floors, multi-purpose rooms and arts and crafts room. She along with the DPW director agreed that activities will be cancelled in the future when this type of cleaning is done in order to make the custodians’ jobs easier.
Lynne also thanked the Friends of the Council on Aging for their purchase of the lovely new patio furniture and also thanked the gardening volunteer and custodian who recently planted perennials in the front of the Senior Center.
Director Waterman noted that the work on the front desk (reception area) was completed in July and also a new work station for a new office assistant was created. The staffs’ working space is quieter and more confidential for the clients.
She is still working with the alarm company on the problem with the alarm which is not yet resolved.
Lynne stated she met with and trained a new community service volunteer who is putting in sixteen hours over the summer. She has been stuffing envelopes and helping out with programs.
Lynne informed the council members that she along with the Outreach Coordinator met with the leader of the bridge club who had some concerns. She also listed for the members the many meetings she attended during the past month.
