VTA Advisory Board
April 26, 2012
The Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority Advisory Board met Thursday, March 16, 2012 at 9:30 AM in the offices of the Transit Authority, 11 A Street, Edgartown. Present were Alice Butler (Oak Bluffs), Connie Teixeira (Tisbury), Lou Paciello (Edgartown), Peter Hefler (Tisbury Finance Committee), Angela Grant (VTA) and Lois Craine (VTA). June Manning (Aquinnah), arrived at 9:45 AM. Len Jason (Chilmark), arrived at 9:50AM.
The meeting was called to order at 9:35AM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ms. Teixeira moved to accept the Minutes of March 16 2012. Mr. Paciello seconded. M/s/c.
Ridership Update
Ridership reports were distributed and discussed. Ms. Grant noted a continued increase each month this fiscal year, a consistent raise upwards of 6%. April 28 begins the new schedule.
Beyond Boston, a Mass Dept. of Transportation Initiative
Ms. Grant reported the steering committee is still meeting to prioritize initiatives within the draft reports. MARTA is drafting a response which will strongly oppose the ongoing efforts to diminish local control of all RTAs. Discussion followed.
Edgartown Visitors Center Update
Big Dipper Shops LLC was the successful bidder for the retail space and will be
open daily between Memorial Day weekend and Columbus Day. Both the retail store and Post Office will sell VTA tickets and passes outside of ticket seller hours.
Financial reports through March 2012
Financial reports through March FY12 were distributed. Ms. Grant noted an increase in expenses which will decrease upon reclassification of Capital grants.
