VTA Advisory Board
March 16, 2012
The Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority Advisory Board met Thursday, March 16, 2012 at 9:30 AM in the offices of the Transit Authority, 11 A Street,Edgartown. Present were Alice Butler (Oak Bluffs), June Manning (Aquinnah), Len Jason (Chilmark), (Connie Teixeira (Tisbury), Lou Paciello (Edgartown), Peter Hefler (Tisbury Finance Committee), Angela Grant (VTA) and Lois Craine (VTA). John Alley (West Tisbury) arrived at 10:08AM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ms. Manning moved to accept the Minutes of January 5, 2012. Ms. Teixeira seconded. M/s/c.
Ridership Update
Ridership reports were distributed and discussed. Ms. Grant noted an increase each month this fiscal year. A consistent 6% raise.
Beyond Boston, a Mass Dept. of Transportation Initiative
Ms. Grant reported on continuing meetings for the study fueled with $450,000 of RTA Cap money. RTA Administrators disagree with a clear course to diminish local control and consolidate power in Mass DOT with a change in MGL 161B.
Financial reports through January 2012
Financial reports through January FY12 were distributed. Ms. Grant reported fuel expenses up with a fuel bid in progress.
Fiscal year 2013 proposed budget
Ms. Grant presented budget figures for FY13 including Edgartown Visitors Center for $73,700, totaling $4,700,449. Any surplus revenue from the Visitors Center will be placed in a restricted income account. Mr. Alley made a motion to accept the FY13 budget total of $4,700,449 and Ms. Teixeira seconded. M/s/c.
Edgartown Visitors Center Update
Ms. Grant reported that egress from the second floor will be met by installing an exterior spiral staircase which awaits approval of the Historic District Commission and that requests for a vendor for the retail space and construction and cleaning services have been published.
