VTA Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
March 19, 2009
The Martha’s Vineyard Regional Transit Authority Advisory Board met on Thursday March 19, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the offices of the Transit Authority, 11 A Street in Edgartown. Present were Alice Butler (Oak Bluffs), John Alley (West Tisbury) , Connie Teixeira (Tisbury), Ken Johnson, (Edgartown), Mary Beth Grady, (non voting disabled commuters’ representative), Angela Grant, Administrator (VTA) and Lois Craine, (VTA).
The meeting was called to order at 1:03 PM.
Approval of Minutes:
Mr. Alley moved to approve the minutes of January 23, 2009, Ms. Teixeira seconded. M/s/c
Updates and Reports:
Economic Stimulus
Ms. Grant reported that the VTA expects to receive at least $1.6 million for 8 buses and possibly $1.8 million for 9 buses. The 3 rural Authorities will split the rural money in the Economic Stimulus bill.
M V R H S:
Ms. Grant advised the Board that Dr. Weiss was contacted detailing every contract violation and imposing a time in which corrections must be made.
Old Business:
Ms. Grant advised the Board that the Town of West Tisbury will allow Music Street to be used while their town hall is rebuilt.
State Transportation Reform:
Ms. Grant updated the Board on two reorganization bills currently being discussed in Boston. Discussion followed.
New Business:
FY10 VTA Budget
Ms. Grant asked the Board to approve a FY10 budget of $4,179,693.Mr. Alley made the motion and Ms. Teixeira seconded. M/s/c. Discussion followed.
