Minutes of Park and Recreation Commission Meeting
Tuesday, April 7, 2009

        Randi Robinowitz, Trustee, Liaison to Commission


Meeting called to order at 7:04 pm by Commissioner Trizano.

Minutes Approved
A motion was made by Commissioner Steve Scarangella and seconded by Commissioner Guy Pipolo to approve the Parks and Recreation Commission minutes for the meeting of March 11, 2009.  Minutes unanimously approved.

Superintendent’s Update
Superintendent of Recreation, Rosanne Saracino reviewed her monthly update and reminded the Commission that camp registration begins on Friday, May 1 6pm-8pm in the Recreation Office.  


Old Business

  • Carnival opened as planned on Friday, April 3.
  • Day Camp We are moving forward with camp plans at Bellows School.  Commission would like the tent walls rolled up each night if possible.
  • Sailing Price quotes have been submitted to recreation for the purchase of an engine for the sailing launch.  Decision to purchase will be made by the end of April.

New Business

Field Permits:  (see attachments for actual permit requests)  
     1.  Jason Spagnola presented the Steve Spina Memorial fund permit request.
    2.  United Church of Mamaroneck permit presented by Dave Vaughn.
     3.  Birthday party permit request presented by Anthony LeDonne.

Trustee Robinowitz reported: SOUND youth dance on Friday, March 20 at the Pavilion was well attended by 250 youths.  

Commission was very impressed by the two youth officers DiRuzza and Ramos who were in charge of the SOUND dance.  These two officers knew the youth very well and provided an excellent service to the community.  Commission will be sending a letter of commendation to Chief Flynn.

Commissioner Steve Scarangella made a motion to adjourn at 8:00 p.m.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Skip Pennucci.

Next meeting will be Wednesday, May 13 7:00 p.m. Regatta.
