Superintendent’s Update
Superintendent of Recreation Rosanne Saracino reviewed her monthly update highlighting the following:
  • Spring Carnival Friday, April 3 through and including Saturday, April 11, 2009
  • Day Camp ’09 Dr Mustich is in receipt of a letter from the Village requesting space at Bellows School for June 29- August 7, 2009
  • Sailing program ’09 still working on the logistics for conducting a summer ’09 program.  Charles Schneider former owner and operator of the Happy Landing Marina in Greenwood Lake is qualified and interested in handling this program. Please see his resume in your packet.

Old Business
  • Hook and Ladder Fire House will be discussed by the Board of Trustees as a possible location for recreation programs.   The Recreation Commission whole heartedly endorses the utilization of Hook and Ladder for community programs.
New Business
  • Commissioner Jeannie Wurzburger reported: that the teen sub committee of the Recreation Commission met with Police Officers Ramos and DiRuzza.  A DJ night is being planned as a pilot program scheduled for sometime in March.
  • Stanley Avenue Counseling Center is being considered as a possible location for teen programs.
  • Commissioner Guy Pipolo expressed concern that due to the Harbor Fest in Harbor Island Park all field activities are being canceled.  Canceling all of the sporting events in the Harbor means that the youth will miss an entire weekend of games which taxes an already challenging schedule for field use.    Suggests that the Harbor Fest be moved to mid June for 2010.
  • Commissioner Tom Cook suggests that any one supervising children should be checked through the sex offense registry.   Superintendent Saracino will speak with the Village Manager about this process.
  • Discussion on combining Town and Village of Mamaroneck recreation day camps for 2010 was mentioned by Trustee Robinowitz.  The Board of Trustees will be addressing this concept in the near future.
Commissioner Pat Radogna motioned to adjourn the meeting.~ Commissioner Jeanie Wurzburger seconded.~Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. Next meeting will be
Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. Regatta.

Respectfully Submitted,

Rosanne Saracino
Superintendent of Recreation
