Minutes of Transfer Station Committee Meeting – September 20, 2006
In attendance: Pete Bleyler, Cynthia Bognolo, Marya Klee, Pete MacDonald, Steve Maddock
Apologies: Simon Carr, Al Pryor, Charles Ragan
1. Compactor – Steve reported that the old shed is almost completely down, making way for the compactor installation. Pete Bleyler reported that the Selectboard has mailed bid requests to the compactor suppliers. Bids will be opened at the BOS meeting on October 4th. Committee members are encouraged to attend.
2. Operations – The garage has the intention of recycling metal for their own account. Is this in keeping with Town policy and accounting? Pete reiterated to the BOS the availability of glass aggregate for sub-layers in road projects. Pete Bleyler will email to the BOS the Committee’s suggestion that employees telephone Charles Ragan if they will not be on site at the Transfer Station at the 8:15 (or the time designated by the BOS) preparation period each Sunday morning. The early, noisy Empire pick-ups were the result of a substitute driver and schedule crunch. This inconvenience should not continue.
3. Connecticut River Clean-up – September 30th – Pete Bleyler will email BOS to suggest they define terms with the organizers, particularly for tires which we recommend they accept without charge.
4. Next meeting – The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 4, 10:30 a.m. at the Lyme Fire Station Meeting Room.
