BOARD of SELECTMEN
MINUTES
August 20, 2006
Present: Judy Brotman, Dick Jones, Al Pryor.
The recessed meeting of the Board of Selectmen reconvened at the highway garage at 11:10 am on Sunday, August 20, 2006.
1. The Board discussed the updated road inventory and meeting with the consulting engineer on the Shoestrap Road repair.
2. The Board met with Al Pryor, superintendent of the Transfer Station, to discuss several Transfer Station matters.
a. The Board wanted to clarify that the Board is Al’s supervisor and he is the supervisor of the other employees working at the Transfer Station.
b. The Board complimented Al on the operations of the Transfer Station.
c. The Board will be sending a letter to transfer station employee Jed Smith advising him that he must stop taking material out of the transfer station.
d. The second attendant’s position is still available. Al recommends that the Board consider hiring Catherine. Al will have Catherine fill out an employment application for the position. The Board will hire her on a trial basis at $9 / hour to start. Upon obtaining certification, she will get a $.50 / hour raise.
e. The additional new hours for the Transfer Station were discussed - Al recommends one or two late afternoons per week, perhaps from 4 pm – 7 pm (summer hours) and 4 pm – 6 pm (winter hours), plus one weekend morning.
f. The meeting adjourned at 11:40 am.
