Draft:  July 26, 2006
Approved:  August 6, 2006

TOWN OF LYME
BOARD of SELECTMEN
MINUTES
July 26, 2006

Present:  Judy Brotman, Dick Jones, Charles Ragan, Elise Garrity and Sharon Greatorex.  Public:  Trent Toensing, Steve Maddock, Simon Carr, Pete Bleyler, Pete McDonald, Katie Jenks.
Action Items / Administrative Matters:
1.      The Board approved the minutes of July 19 as corrected.
2.      The Board met with Trent Toensing to consider the placement of a “Not a Thru Road” sign at the entrance to Pout Pond Lane.  The Board voted to have the highway department place a donated sign at the beginning of the road.
3.      The Board met with members of the Transfer Station Committee to discuss the placement of the compactor and errors in the recently adopted regulations.  The Board will review the adopted regulations and revise them so they are consistent with the handout – with apologies from Judy for having neglected to do this after the committee’s last request.  The Board agreed to reconsider their placement choice and once again review options for the compactor.  A decision will probably be made next week.
4.      The Board discussed the Emlen request to change the location of a barn covered by an easement.  The Board will make a final decision next week, after consultation and review by Town Counsel.
5.      The Board referred the NH Electric “assessment” letter to Carole and the Town’s counsel to review and recommend an appropriate action.
6.      The Board approved the request by the Old Home Day Committee to use the Academy Building.
7.      The Board will be reviewing the 6 month budget next week, and will be hosting the Budget Committee, at 7:30 pm, for a status update.
Items of note:  Salt Shed schedule & costs
                        Compactor schedule & cost
                        Transfer station attendants, operational hours
The meeting recessed to the highway garage to review the proposed compactor location alternatives.
The meeting adjourned at 10 am.
Respectfully submitted,

Judith Lee Shelnutt Brotman
