Selectboard Minutes 2006/07/19
Draft:  July 19, 2006
Approved:  July 26, 2006

TOWN OF LYME
BOARD of SELECTMEN
MINUTES
July 19, 2006

Present:  Judy Brotman, Dick Jones, Charles Ragan, Dina Cutting.
Action Items / Administrative Matters:
1.      The Board approved the minutes of July 12 as corrected.
2.      The Board signed the Manifest.
3.      The Board reviewed the updated Assessment/Appraisal values.  Dick Jones moved to approve the reassessed values for 2006 as submitted by Diana Calder.  Charles Ragan seconded the motion.  Motion passed by unanimous vote.
4.      Charles and Dina updated the Board on the status of the conditions and repairs for Shoestrap Road.  FEMA has stated that they will pay for the road repair.  A state “slope specialist” has analyzed the grades of  the road and will consult on an appropriate repair for the road.  New safety barriers are in place in the interim.
5.      The Board voted to extend a tax lien waiver of interest and fees to August 1, 2006.
6.      The Board approved appointing Tor Tostensen to another 3 year term.  The Recreation Commission is meeting quarterly now.  There is still a need for additional members.
7.      The Board reviewed the request for funds to repair the tennis and basketball courts at the Pond.  This request will need to be approved as a part of next year’s budget at town meeting.
8.      The Board signed the cover letter to Transfer Station Committee.
9.      The Board chose Option #4 for the compactor location – this location is in the existing fenced area.
10.     The Board needs a specific proposal from WaveCom as to the needed height if the Board is to approve an amendment to the Municipal Exemption for a 65 ft. Emergency Communications tower.
11.     The Pond has been given a clean “bill of health” on the quality of the pond water.  This test replaces the one taken at the end of last week which showed elevated levels of bacteria.
12.     The Board adjourned at 9 am, with Selectmen Dick Jones and Charles Ragan taking a road trip to Shoestrap Road to assess the current condition of the road – before recommending any additional safety measures, if necessary.
Adjourned at 9:00 am.
Respectfully submitted,

Judith Lee Shelnutt Brotman
