Attending:  Selectmen Dick Jones, Pete Bleyler and Judy Brotman; Police Chief Pauline Field, Carole Bont,  Jim Kenyon (Valley News), Patricia Jenks, Fred Phillips, George Hartmann, Lwetitia Smith, Jeff Lehmann, Harriet Phillips, Julia Elder, Darlene Lehmann, Simon Carr & Stephen Maddock, (Transfer Station committee), Jo Grant, Earl Strout, Jackie Glass, Nancy Grandine, Judy Barker, William Grant, Robert Edwards, Marcia Armstrong, Nora Gould.


The meeting opened at 8:00 am.  

1.      The Selectmen met with Police Chief Field for an update of the events of the weekend.  The police do have a policy on high speed pursuit.  The policy was followed by the Chief Field and Officer Roberts.  The Selectmen were given copies of the policy for review.
2.      The Selectmen approved the overtime used for moving the office and follow-up “clean-up” and advised the bookkeeper that the overtime should be included as a part of the insurance claim.
3.      The public and non-public minutes of April 27th were approved as corrected.
4.      The Selectmen voted to go into non-public session under RSA 91-A:3 II (c)  for discussion which, if discussed in public, could affect the reputation of an individual.
5.      The Selectmen returned to public session at 8:40 am, having voted to exempt the non-public session minutes from public disclosure.
6.      The Selectmen renewed their approval of the use of the Academy Building for yoga classes.
7.      The Selectmen approved the purchase of the UPC code for Fee Payment.  Elise is authorized to get the UPC code off the internet.
8.      The Safety Committee needs to hold a meeting.  The Committee is made up of Pauline Field, Patty Jenks, Betsy Eaton, Chuck Ragan, and Wally Ragan.  There is also a highway department worker.  As the presiding chairman, Wally needs to convene the meeting.  
9.      The Selectmen approved Vickie’s request for job-related training (Natural Resources Inventory)and that she be paid for attendance at the classes.  
10.     The Selectmen authorized Transfer Station head Al Pryor to accept an “appropriate limit” of tires collected on the green-up day collection.
11.     Darlene Lehmann and others appeared before Selectmen to request a reconsideration of the Bargain Barn’s request to be able to use the Transfer Station  free of any charge.  The estimates are that one to two truckloads of disposables would be brought to the station each week while the Bargain Barn is open, approximately May – October.  A number of the individuals present spoke in favor of the request, with several suggestions as to how to handle this request and any other similar requests which may come forward in the future.  Pete agreed to have the transfer station committee reexamine the issue and make recommendations to the Board,
12.     The Pay-as-you-Throw program is scheduled to start on June 26th.
13.     Steve Maddock and Simon Carr noted that the Transfer Station Committee is scheduled to meet following the Selectmen’s meeting, and they will be discussing the Bargain Barn request – and making a recommendation to the Selectmen.

The meeting adjourned at 9:55 am.
