TOWN OF LYME
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
March 30, 2005
   

Attending:  Selectmen Dick Jones, Pete Bleyler and Judy Brotman; staff Carole Bont, Diana Calder, and Dina Cutting;  and Public Dan Bailey.

The meeting opened at 8:00 am.  

1.      The Selectmen approved the minutes of March 23, 2005 as amended.
2.      The Selectmen approved a revision to the Non-Public Session minutes of March 16th.  
3.      Chairman Bleyler updated the Selectmen with news of the recycled Lyme fire equipment and truck in Equador.  Two children were saved from a structure fire because of the Lyme donation.  Kudos to Chief Michael Hinsley and the Lyme Volunteer Firemen.  
4.      The Selectmen voted to reappoint Kerry Beck to the Recreation Commission to 2008.
5.      The Selectmen voted to waive Transfer Station fees for Green Up Day collections.
6.      The Board of Selectmen concur with the Conservation Commission’s draft policy and planned course of action for Post Pond Water Release Policy.
7.      The Board of Selectmen support the Recreation Commission’s decision not to rent out Post Pond Field.
8.      The Selectmen responded to an inquiry about the publication of the Pond Water Release Policy last summer.  The information was released to keep the public informed of the releases.  
9.      The Selectmen will have Dina respond to an inquiry about the lights at Post Pond.
10.     Crossroads Academy Site Plan Review hearing is tonight.  The Selectmen have confidence in the Planning Board to review the project and resolve the outstanding issues.
11.     The Lyme Nursery School Site Plan Review is coming up soon.
12.     The Selectmen discussed the outfitting and purchase of the new highway truck.
13.     The Selectmen discussed the budget process for next year.
14.     Dan Bailey appeared before the Selectmen to discuss two issues:
a.      The disposal of the plastic hay wrap.
b.      The need for a building permit for the plastic turkey shelter.  Dan will appeal the Zoning Administrator’s determination that this is a structure and needs a permit.
15.     Diana Calder spoke about her assessing updates, and the tax criteria for structures.
