Selectboard Minutes 2005/03/02

Draft:  March 2, 2005
Approved: March 9, 2005
TOWN OF LYME
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
March 2, 2005
MINUTES

Attending:  Selectmen Dick Jones, Pete Bleyler and Judy Brotman; Admin. Asst. Carole Bont; Public Earl Strout.

The meeting opened at 8:00 am.

1.      The Selectmen approved the minutes of February 23, 2005.
2.      The Selectmen reviewed and approved an “errata” sheet for the Town Report, including adding a list of the Energy Committee members and the Communication Committee members.
3.      The Selectmen reviewed the discussions of Little Town Meeting.
a.      The Selectmen voted to continue to support the warrant article to discontinue that portion of Baker Hill Road as described in the warrant article.
b.      The Selectmen discussed the situation of hardship created by the Pay-as-you-throw proposal.  In selected cases demonstrating need, the Selectmen will work to alleviate the hardship created by this new system.  In other cases, the Selectmen believe the reduction in the cost of providing MSW services will result in a tax reduction, thereby negating the need for special consideration.
c.      The Selectmen will specify, where possible, sharp cut-off fixtures for the replacement lights being provided by the electric company (NHPS).
d.      The Selectmen also noted: that Representative Hilda Sokol’s name had been left off the list of state representatives, the recommendation of the budget committee to support the blind exemption was listed in error (they didn’t vote on these exemptions), there is a $50 difference between the MS-7 and the budget worksheet (the MS-7 is the correct amount).
4.      The Selectmen recessed the meeting from the Town Offices to the Green Mountain Studios building, where the Selectmen met with Earl Strout and toured the building.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 am.

Judith Lee Shelnutt Brotman

The Selectmen will meet at 5:00 pm on Monday to set up the Community Room at the Lyme School for Town Meeting.  Selectmen’s duty hours will be finalized at that time.
