Selectboard Minutes 2004/08/25

Draft:  August 25, 2004
Approved:  September 15, 2004

TOWN OF LYME
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
August 25, 2004
MINUTES

Attending:  Selectmen Dick Jones,  Judy Brotman, Staff: Dina Cutting.
Public:  Gordon Schnare, Sup’t. of Schools.

The meeting opened at 8:10 am

1.      Gordon Schnare appeared before the Board of Selectmen to request the school be granted a municipal exemption for the paving of the parking lot at the school.  Dick Jones reminded Gordon that the Kilhams next door have an issue with drainage and the several trees on their property that appear to have been adversely affected by the dumpster location and drainage.  Gordon said that he, Gerry Clancy (principal) and the School Board have been talking with the Kilhams about how to resolve the issue.  Dick Jones moved to grant the municipal exemption.  Judy Brotman seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.
2.      Judy Brotman advised Gordon Schnare of the letter concerning polling place ADA compliance.  Gordon agreed to follow through in seeing that corrections are made to the site.
3.      Dick Jones has been authorized to sign the “Electioneering at the Transfer Station” letter for the Board of Selectmen.
4.      The Minutes of August 18th were approved as corrected.
5.      Vachon, Clukay & Co. recommendation that the Fire Department treasurer follow the Town’s accounting procedures was reviewed and discussed.  The Board of Selectmen approved this recommendation.
6.      The Board of Selectmen appreciate Vachon, Clukay & Co.’s offer to meet with the Selectmen, but feel that at this time such a meeting is unnecessary.  (The Board of Selectmen’s concerns are that the internal procedures are correct, and that the reports are accurate.)
7.      Vachon, Clukay & Co. has also recommended that new and/or revised account numbers be assigned by the Treasurer and the Bookkeeper.  The Selectmen approve this approach, and recommend that the Treasurer and the Bookkeeper meet with Vachon, Clukay & Co. to review setting up the accounts.
8.      Dick will mail the Municipal Association support card back to the Association, with a “yes” support vote for PB minutes issue, a “no” vote for the state tax exemption, and an “abstain” vote for the rules issue.
9.      Then Selectmen approved the Intent-to-Cut (supplemental) for Dartmouth College for Map 414, lot 58.
10.     The manifest was signed by the Selectmen.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 am.
Respectfully submitted,

Judith Lee Shelnutt Brotman

Note:  NO MEETING NEXT WEEK – 9/1/04.
