Minutes 30 July 2003

The Lyme Board of Selectmen convened its regular meeting at 9:00 AM. Dick Jones, Allan Newton, Pete Bleyler, and Carole Bont (Administrative Assistant) attended the entire meeting. Bob and Frances Lee attended parts of the meeting.

The Board signed the lot line adjustment agreement related to property of the Frances Lee Trust and the Town Forest.

The minutes of the 23 July meeting were approved as corrected.

The Board discussed the issues surrounding the issue of beaver dam destruction, and directed Carole Bont to set up a telephone conference with the Town's Attorney during the 6 August meeting.

The Board signed the unlicensed dog warrant.

The Board directed that Blaktop look at the plan for a curb cut to provide handicapped access between the School and Library, and provide an estimated cost.

The Board signed a grant application to restore the theater curtain in the Academy Building.

The Board discussed the placing of telephone poles in Baker Hill Road by Verizon.  Replacing existing poles do not need a permit, but installing new poles in the road right of way does require a permit.  Verizon is now aware of this requirement.

The Board signed the settlement offer regarding litigation with Bucky Field.

The Board discussed the US Gen's bankruptcy and the impact on Town finances.

The Board agreed that any Town-owned vehicle that does not meet state inspection requirements should not be on the road.

The meeting adjourned at 10:20 AM.
