Minutes 5 February 2003
1. The Lyme Board of Selectmen convened for its regular meeting at 9:50 AM. Richard Jones, Michael Hinsley and Carole Bont attended the entire meeting. Luane Cole attended parts of the meeting.
2. The minutes of the 29 January were approved as submitted.
3. The following administrative matters were discussed and/or actions taken:
a. Approval was granted for Thetford Academy students to conduct a fund raiser for their foreign trip at the transfer station on 9 February with the requirement that they stay out of the flow of traffic and not impede people using the recycling area.
b. Luane came in to discuss the blind exemption for her mother granted last week. The Board explained why it was not granted retroactively to cover her 2002 taxes. Dick then moved and Mike seconded a motion to grant her a tax abatement of $1,070.55 for 2002, which reflects the amount of a blind tax abatement if her certification as blind had been made earlier. The motion carried unanimously.
4. Dick moved and Mike seconded a motion for the Board to recommend Articles 13 through 22 of the 2003 Town Meeting Warrant. The motion carried unanimously. Mike then moved and Dick seconded a motion for the Board of Selectmen to take no position on Articles 23 and 24. The motion carried unanimously.
5. The meeting adjourned at 10:18 AM.
