Recreation Commission Minutes 2004/11/22
MINUTES FOR LYME RECREATION COMMITTEE
November 22, 2004

Present: Cathy Cramer, Richard Jones, Kathleen Henrique, Doug Vogt, Tor Tosteson

Minutes for the October meeting are not yet available and will be approved at the December 22 meeting.  The Director’s report is not yet available either, and Cathy summarized the two items she was aware of: 1) as of yet there is no cross-country ski commissioner; 2) Russell Stearns will coach 5-6 boy’s basketball.

Cathy has presented the budget to the Selectmen. Dick explained some of the pressures on the overall town budget this year that may affect the Recreation Department.

Cathy discussed another yoga instructor who has expressed interest in using the Academy building. The other previously interested instructor has not yet responded to the conditions set by the Selectmen. The advisability of the conditions was discussed, with concerns expressed as to the impact on other programs.

Hockey lighting at Post Pond has now been discussed with the Selectmen, who will make a decision soon. The Recreation Committee voted unanimously with one abstention to endorse Pete Mulvihill’s proposal.

The Committee also agreed to direct Steve Small to accommodate Lisa Damren’s after school floor hockey group with time on December 6 to replace time they deferred due to conflicting scheduling of the 3-4 girls basketball practice today.

After general discussion of the options for cross country ski program, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be December 22.

Respectfully submitted,
Tor Tosteson
