Recreation Commission Minutes, August 23, 2004 meeting

In attendance:~ Cathy Cramer (chair), Dick Jones, Doug Vogt, Steve Small.
~
1.~ After brief discussion of how the mooring of boats at the Post Pond landing will be enforced and exceptions granted, the Commission unanimously approved a motion to concur with the Selectboard on the amendments to the Recreation Areas Bylaw.
~
2.~ Steve reported that the Play Soccer camps were well-attended and netted about $1000.~ Planning for fall soccer is well underway, with Pete Mulvihill as commissioner and all coaches appointed.~ Sign-ups are the first week of school.
~
3.~ Dick distributed hard copies of the recreation pages from the new town website.
~
4.~ Cathy read Dina Cutting's update on Chase Beach.~ She was happy with how things went, and the lifeguards have pulled in the floats and cleaned up, so the Rec Commission does not need to schedule any further work.
~
5.~ The summer men's softball program, particularly the tournaments, and its relationship to the Rec Commission, was discussed.~ Cathy will write a note to team representatives alerting them to the recently-amended bylaws.~ The men's basketball league was also briefly discussed; Cathy will try to get more information from organizers.
~
6.~ The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
