Town Offices Bldg Committee 2006/02/27
TOWN OF LYME
Town Offices Building Committee
February 27, 2006
MINUTES

Attending: Pete Bleyler, Patty Jenks, Town Clerk, Carole A. Bont, Administrative Assistant, Don Metz, Tony Pippin, and Jane Fant, Tish Smith

Guests: Geoff Thornton, Pauline Field

Pete called the meeting to order at 11:32 am.~

1.      Geoff presented revised plans for a proposed new office space, based on previous ideas and recommendations.~ Police Chief Pauline Field was invited to come and take a look at the area designated as police offices and encouraged to make any revisions to that area she felt would be helpful.

It was pointed out that these plans are to be considered ONLY an attempt to determine space needs and possible layout in the event we built a new facility vs. retrofit an existing space.~ The design could possibly be redefined to fit into an existing space with more revisions.~ It’s intended to reflect the ideal use of size and space and with that in mind, to determine a ballpark cost to gain this ideal space.

2.      A discussion continued about what and how to present our findings (that is fulfilling our charge and communicate our considered options) at Little Town Meeting and Town Meeting, in an effort to provide as much accurate and informative information as possible for voters to consider.

3.      It was agreed that Pete would lead in the informational session at both meetings with any other committee members ready to jump in as necessary.~ Carole offered a very detailed idea of the types of information that could/should be shared.

4.      Carole will call the DRA to get an estimate of how a one million dollar bond to fund this project would affect taxpayers per $1000.00 of tax valuation.

5. There will be another meeting held Monday March 13, 2006 at 11:30 am in the Fire House to ~~~~~~~see if we need to prepare anything else for Town Meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 12:45 pm.~
Respectfully submitted,
Patty Jenks
