TOWN OF LYME
Town Offices Building Committee
February 6, 2006
MINUTES

Attending:  Don Metz, Tish Smith, Tony Pippin Sr., Michael Woodard, Jane Fant, and Carole A. Bont, Administrative Assistant.  Guest:  Geoffrey G. Thornton, Architect.

1.      Carole Bont called the meeting to order at 11:39 AM at the Fire House.
2.      The committee was introduced to Geoffrey Thornton, architect from “Thornton + Smith”, by Don Metz.
3.      Members of the Committee explained their efforts to obtain a $,3,000 grant/loan from the Lyme Foundation to pay to have Geoffrey try to help them evaluate the two potential sites for the town offices and to assist them with a presentation in the form of a rough “bubble sketch” drawing of the two options (if they both make financial sense) to bring to Little Town Meeting and Town Meeting.  Could he do that for $3,000?
4.      He thinks he could.  Geoffrey will be out of town for those two dates (March 7 & March 14), however, he felt that he could provide the committee with some assistance.  His hourly rate is $95/hour.  He will send a proposal to us for his services for up to $3,000.
5.      In order to put something together he wanted to see what information we had gathered about our space needs.  Carole will provide him with the space needs worksheets we produced in 2000 for the Chaffee House.  He also needed a copy of the assessment cards and preferably plans for the Green Mountain Studios building.  Carole will fax him the assessment cards.  Michael Woodard will try to get some plans for Green Mountain Studios from Earl Strout.  Michael Woodard volunteered to bring Geoffrey up to see Green Mountain Studios after the meeting.
6.      The committee agreed to meet again with Geoffrey next week on Monday at 11:30 AM to brainstorm about what is needed.
7.      The meeting adjourned at about 12:40 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Carole A. Bont
