NEW TOWN OFFICES COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
October 14, 2008
Members Present: Don Metz, Jay Smith, Simon Carr, Mike Woodard. Guest present: Freda Swan.
The meeting was officially opened at 8:00 am by Co-Chair Don Metz.~~
- The minutes of October 7, 2008 were approved.
- Don explained that Freda was invited to the meeting to bring her up to date on where we were and to see if she had any suggestions.
- Don discussed his meeting with the Energy Committee and that we had decided to go with the Radiant Heat. Low temp will conserve energy and design will provide flexibility for the future.
- Contaminated soil has been hauled to Loudon and trucking bill will be paid from escrow. Still have not received a letter from the State but reports are in and all tests are negative and site is clean.
- Concrete frost walls have been poured. All sub floor plumbing is in. Next week, weather permitting the insulation and radiant heat pipes will be installed and slab will be poured on the new side. Once Ray is moved out insulation, heat pipes can be installed and additional concrete poured on the existing side. Ray has leased a temporary shop in Fairlee which will be available November 1st.
- Still awaiting further information from the State on putting in a culvert and adding a driveway.
- It is estimated that the walls and trusses could be up in 5 – 6 weeks depending on weather.
- Discussed layouts and furniture/cost estimates provided by Lyndonville Office Products. Will plan to meet with their representative in the future.
- Discussed the emergency generator and the practicality of the Firehouse versus theNew Town Office building being used as the emergency center.
- The meeting adjourned at 9:05 am.
