Lyme Energy Committee
Minutes
June 11, 2007

Present: Matt Brown, Tina Cullenberg, Tom Hunton, Denis Kelem,  Carola Lea, Sue MacKenzie, Dan O’Hara, Charles Ragan, Selectmen’s representative, John Stadler

The May meeting minutes were approved by email.

1.      Membership of committee
a.      Dan has agreed to join the LEC- Welcome!
b.      Charles is the appointed representative of the selectmen- Welcome!
c.      Tina asked another community member who declined.
2.      Photovoltaic panels- Matt, Tom
a.       Single panel, south facing; excess power is sold back to power company
b.      They looked at the school for appropriateness of a panel-  roof and trees keep it  from being more than 5-10% efficient
3.      Building Committee-  Tom
a.      The term “efficiency” is used in the committees goals; a good sign
b.      Action: Tom will keep an energy efficiency presence at the meetings by being a part of discussions.
(Matt and Tom left meeting for an end- of- school event.)
4.      Tire pressure-  Matt not available
a.      A sign from Bob Walker was given to Veracka’s by Carola
b.      Action: Sue will verify availability of compressor at Varacka’s garage and write article in Church Newsletter
5.      Wind energy-  Denis
a.      Thank you note was shared from Skip Pendleton to Denis for his and Lee Larson’s presentation to the 6th grade science class
b.      Skip will store model wind machine fabricated by Denis for future use.
c.      Dan indicated an interest in continuing the project with the Skiway;  
d.      Action: Denis to pass the reigns of the Skiway wind project to Dan.
6.      Interest was raised in observing a running photovoltaic panel
a.      Denis indicated a house on Baker Hill Rd. runs off the power grid; great interest was expressed by all members present.
b.      Action: Denis volunteered to facilitate a visit by the LEC.

As Denis has moved to Kendal, he has resigned from the LEC.  But we note we may be seeing him for a field trip noted above.  Many thanks to Denis for his significant contribution to the Lyme Energy Committee since May 2004!

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.  The next third Monday of the month is July16.    See you then!
