Minutes
June 19, 2006




Present:  Tina Cullenberg, Denis Kelemen, Carola Lea, Sue MacKenzie

Minutes of the May meeting were approved by as amended by email and in the meeting including the correct date of this meeting.

Old Business:
1.      10% Challenge- tabled
2.      No idling- tabled
3.      Tire pressure- tabled until Fall
4.      New Town Office- tabled
5.      Pamphlet for applicants of building permits providing energy saving suggestions-
a.      Discussion- nearing completion
b.      Will bring to next meeting for review by committee
c.      Who- John and Carola

6.       Property Tax exemption- this is a complicated issue and will demand a Town Meeting vote so it cannot yet be included in the pamphlet.
a.      Discussion- Per Vickie Davis 50 towns give exemptions for solar, wind or wood heated homes through the NH Office for Energy and Planning.  
b.      Action- we should contact a town that has exemptions to ask about the wording of their warrant.
c.      Who- Carola to contact  nearby towns listed
d.      When-  by next meeting

7.  Wind project-  Denis
e.      Discussion-  Lee Larson did presentation to science class; thank you notes sent by the 6th grade class members and received by Denis and Lee.  Will change chip and down load information from skiway.  Doug Halloran will bring  Denis up in lift.  He needs a four hour notice to go up in chairlift; they will walk down; it will need to be during the week, not a weekend.
f.      Anyone interested in joining Denis, give him a call.
g.      To be done on Denis’ schedule.


New Business:
1.      Hazardous Waste
a.      Discussion-  As LEC advocates use of   CFLs we should provide information for appropriate disposal of these mercury laden bulbs.  We should be able to have two barrels at the recycling center.
b.      Action- Denis will contact Steve Maddock, Selectman to discuss the situation.
c.      Who- Carola has a barrel to contribute with Denis as a backup.  
d.      When- not identified ?

2.      Last Flea Market
a.      LEC should have another demonstration table;  it should include the different types of bulbs available in the check out suitcase from the library; the display comparing fluorescent and incandescent bulbs  prepared by Denis was very effective;  it appears that less is better on the display table..
b.      Action-  plan for the last flea market of September

Meeting was adjourned at 7:50.

Next meeting is the third Monday of the month,  July 17.
